McDonald’s workers clearly aren’t lovin’ Trump’s immigration policies.
The protest, which was intended to show how heavily America relies on immigrants in the workforce, took quite the toll on the fast food chain’s employee count, causing many die-hardMickey D’s fans to miss a day of burgers and fries.
Though it is unclear whether the chains voluntarily closed or were simply lacking workers, McDonald’s fans and employees across the country shared many updates via Twitter on locations that were either completely out of business for the day or operating with limited service.
Many praised the chain for standing in solidarity with immigrants and acknowledging their heavy contributions.
The protest extended far beyond fast food restaurants, and celebrity chefs like Jos Andrs, Rick Bayless and Eric and Bruce Bromberg also made the decision to close their restaurants in solidarity too.
Following the gigantic Women’s March that took place in January, the “Day Without Immigrants” is simply another display in the long line of post-Trump resistance events planned.
